St Jean-de-Cole | Things to See and Do in Saint Jean-de-Cole

St Jean-de-Cole

Saint Jean-de-Cole is in the Northern Dordogne near Thivers and is on the banks of the Cole river. St Jean-de-Cole is a designated Les Plus Beaux Villages de France, or Beautiful Villages of France. The village square is flanked on one side by the Chateau de la Marthonie which was built over a period of time and the represents different design periods.

On another side of the square is the Romanesque Byzantine church of St Jean Baptist built in the 12th  century. The other sides of the square have traditional cottage-style houses.

Things to See and Do in St Jean-de-Cole

Chateau de la Marthonie
Dating from the 15th and 17th centuries ans flanks the town square.

Romanesque Church
The church of Jean the Baptist built in the 12th century this church has a rounded shape and sits on the town square.

May Flower Show
Held annually and boasts hundreds of flower sellers and displays.
